title is from the song "I Need You" written by George Harrison for the Beatles' Help! album. the ref i used is a screenshot from the movie -- when they're out on that random battle field singing it. :P (one of my fave Beatle songs, too, fyi) :)
one of my favorite albums, too. :nods:

...and George Harrison is my favorite Beatle! and since his death anniversary is coming up on Nov29, i thought i'd draw this...so, here's to you, George! :)

sooo hmm...this picture is important to me because i normally don't do portraits, especially on the computer, so PLEASE critique this very harshly. It'll also be going in my college portfolio when the time comes, so please please please, point out even the smallest detail; i'll probably be revisiting this.
the ref is here:

I wish i had thought to put more of that guitar in! oh well... :(
again, i really appreciate critique on this especially. :)

Well, I am not an artist so I cannot give you any real or advanced critique... One thing I noticed though is that the hair looks WONDERFUL, but on the right side (when you're looking at it) where the hair is all blowing out, you can see the brush strokes very clearly. See, I'm not sure if in this style that's acceptable or not, but to me the rest of the hair looks very realistic but on that side you can see the rounded edges and stuff very well, and there's that one curl you can see that loops back on itself. Just looks off to me.

But yeah, I think it looks absolutely wonderful. ^^ The shading on the face is so beautiful. <333 I love it, and I dunno if that critique should be payed attention to or not, just what I as an audience noticed.

argg! don't ever say "i don't know because i'm not an artist" lol; don't worry, your critique is exactly what i need/want. so thank you so much for being the first one to fulfill my request. :) just because you don't know/study/whatever art doesn't mean that what you have to say is not valuable to me. :XD: :XD:

ah, and i see what you mean about the hair. to tell the truth, my amateur-ity (lol) makes me feel like that looks cool but it doesn't, i suppose. And, another truth: i also got really lazy towards the end of working on this....-w- indeedilydoodle. hair has always been a hazy lazy factor when i'm working, ahaha.
the thing i agree with you on is that loop; thanks for bringing that to my attention because i most definitely don't like it. I'll have to fix that!!

thanks so much, because comments like this was exactly what i was looking for. i like critique sessions and i like discussing art so....thank you!! :D

yeh, same here. my mom was a big big big beatles fan starting when she first saw them on the Ed Sullivan Show. :XD: she told me that she was about 6 or 7 and it was love at first sight. :XD:
so she loved them more during their early years, and less during their later years. I'm the same way. :XD: also, we both started out as big Paul fangirls but now both of us prefer the quieter George. :XD: heeheehee.
she also told me that when she was younger she had a wall in her attic that she filled with Beatles photographs and articles, like, glued to it. but then they moved out of that house. :( i'm really sad because i want to see it but the new owners probably painted over it. :(:(

Lol, that's amazing, probably one of the reasons I'm not an artist is because I HATE critiques. XD;; It's bad, but I can't take critiques from anyone who is NOT a professional or my teacher, having all these random people on the net pointing out all my imperfections would drive me crazy... That is very good of you. <3
